About Ullswater Catchment Management CIC

Danny and Maddy Teasdale, who run Ullswater Catchment Management CIC

Who we Are

Ullswater Catchment Management CIC is run by Danny and Maddy Teasdale. The company was set up by Danny following the devastating floods of Storm Desmond in 2015. These were particularly damaging to their home village of Glenridding and other communities around Ullswater. Projects were initially small scale and local but they now work throughout the whole of the Ullswater and adjacent catchments. Local contractors are used for many of the larger projects.

Both Danny and Maddy are from local farming families that have been in the Lake District for over 200 years. Their knowledge and understanding of farming and the local farming communities has enabled them to work collaboratively with farmers and landowners to make projects happen that are beneficial to both the farm business and to nature.

What we Do

Our work is proposed and delivered by the community. We are proud of the fact that as far as possible all money is spent on local businesses and contractors to help the local economy. Our work is varied, from planting new hedgerows and trees to soil and grass health, and river restoration work. We work with groups of local farmers and land owners. We attend information sharing events, discuss best practices, current issues, funding streams and share ideas that work for them to help others.
