As part of the Cumbrian River Restorations Strategy partnership, we travelled to Vienna in November 2022 to attend the European River Prize Award ceremony as the partnership had been nominated, and much to our surprise we won!!
We had stiff competition against the River Vjosa protection campaign, and projects on the Mura, Drava and Danube rivers, which were very impressive. However the judges were most impressed how the Cumbrian partnership had worked with farmers, landowners and communities to restore and enhance our rivers and waterways, and we were very honoured to have our work recognised on an international level.
