Glenridding flood relief channel
The village of Glenridding suffered awfully during the storms of 2015. Homes and business' were flooded, water supplies cut off, roads closed, telephone signal lost. Working with the farm upstream and with plans drawn up by the Environment Agency we created a flood relief channel upstream of the village. The purpose of the channel was to increase the amount of water that could be held upstream and slowed down before it reached the village. To date the project has worked really well and since its creation people in the village have noticed that the beck doesn't rise as fast in heavy rain.
