Wetland habitat creation, Matterdale
Wetlands provide essential habitats for Frogs, Wading birds, Dragonflies and so much more.
This wetland scrape was incorporated into our natural flood management project so that the scrape stores water and releases it slowly. It will always carry some water so will benefit the livestock in times of drought.
Over the last 50 years we have lost the majority of these ponds. Public donations allow us to create many more of these ponds.
